How to Use Vuze to Download Content for AppleTV

This is a step by step guide to using the BitTorrent client, Vuze, to download .torrent files and convert them into a format that is recognizable and optimized for your AppleTV.

The BitTorrent network is different from other “peer to peer” file sharing networks, in that the user download a (very small) .torrent file from a website. Once this .torrent file is imported into your BitTorrent network client (Vuze, in this instance), it connects to a tracker and finds people who have completed not only completed downloading the file, but are in the process as well.


The .torrent file is able to find bits of information from many different sources to completely download the actual audio file, video file, application, etc. This allows for greater download speeds, because the user has the ability to download a single file from many different “seeds” (other users who have the entire file) and “peers” (other users who are in the process of downloading the file).
