©MonZaeMon™ 69 - Having a variety of fonts can be
very helpful when it comes to creating documents using Windows. It can
add zest and appeal to your document and attract potential readers.
Having a large arsenal of fonts at your disposal is always a good
option.
1
This will save time later.
Think about what you want your font to look like. This will make things easier when you are actually trying to find a font.
2
Find a website that you can download fonts from. For a list of websites, enter "fonts" into your preferred search engine. This will give you access to thousands of free fonts.
-
These are just a few examples.
Choose a category. Most sites will have at least a couple dozen
categories for you to choose from. This can help narrow down your
choices even further. You can also search for a specific font if you
know the name.
4
It should look a little like this.
Download the file. Once you have found the right font, you need to download it. To do this, simply press the "Download Windows" button.
5
The file saved on to the desktop.
Unzip the file. To unzip the file, simply press "Open" and your
unzipper should open it automatically(If you do not have one you will
need to download it). Then save the font to a place where you can easily
find it(like your desktop).
6
This is what should come up.
Add the file to your fonts. To do this, open up the start menu and
search "Fonts". Its usually the first listed under "Programs". Open the
folder then drag the file from your desktop to the folder.
7
Double check.
Double check. Double check to make sure the file successfully made
it to the Fonts folder. To do this, open up Fonts and scroll through
until you see the newly added font. If its not there, you may need to
re-install it.
8
The newly added font.
Test out your font. You can to this more than one way. You can
double click the newly added font to see what it looks like, or you can
actually use it. Simply open up Word(although you can open up something
else like Powerpoint) and select your font. Type something out to see
what it looks like.
- Remember there are hundreds of thousands of open source fonts.
You're sure to find the exact one that you need. Dont give up until you
find it!
